Auto Registration

Your vehicle must be registered in Pratt County within 30 days of your residency. In order to register the vehicle, you must first have it inspected by the local Police Department, located at 303 S. Oak. Phone (620) 672-5551. You must bring the car's original title, or a certified copy, and your valid driver's license before the inspection can be made. Cost for the inspection is $10 (must be cash, checks not accepted).

After the vehicle is inspected you must bring the inspection papers, proof of insurance and the original title or certified copy to the Pratt County Treasurer's Office, located in the courthouse, 300 S. Ninnescah. Phone (620) 672-4116. Tags will then be issued.

Day Care

Pratt has more than 20 licensed or registered day care homes. For information on those, contact the Hutchinson Child Care Link, 1-800-530-5129 or the Pratt County Health Department, 708 S. Main. Phone (620) 672-4135.

Driver's License

The Kansas Driver's License Bureau is located on the 2nd floor of the Pratt County Courthouse. Regular license renewals are done Tuesday-Friday from 9:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. Cost is $20 for first time licensees; renewal over the age of 21 is $24. Phone (620) 672-4116. No appointments necessary. Special licenses such as learner permits, CDL's, etc. can be obtained on Thursdays only.

Library

Pratt Public Library is located at 4th and Jackson Streets.

  • More than 63,000 volumes are available,
  • as well as 69 magazine and newspaper subscriptions,
  • numerous art prints, reference services by phone or in person,
  • a summer reading program and story time for children,
  • large print books for the visually impaired, and
  • the Talking Book program.
A computer, film projector, overhead projector, and cameras are also available for public use.

Mail Service

Before you move fill out a free "Change of Address" form to notify your post office of your change in address. Forms are also available to notify your correspondents, magazine publishers, etc., of your address change. Be sure you do this one month prior to your move for your own convenience. First-class mail is forwarded for eight months after your move.

Pratt Recreation Department

Pratt Recreation Department offers youth and adults a variety of sporting interests year round. Contact the Recreation Department at (620) 672-3261 or stop by their office at the Pratt Municipal Building on the corner of Third and Jackson streets to pick up schedules of activities and to register.

Pratt County Recycling Center

The Pratt County Recycling Center is located at 1104 S. Main Street and is open Monday thru Friday 9:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. and Saturday 10:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. Phone (620) 672-4107.

Voter Registration

You may register to vote in Pratt County at the Pratt County Courthouse located at 300 S. Ninnescah in the County Clerk's Office. Phone (620) 672-4110. In order to register you must bring verification of your current address and complete a voter registration card.
