Kansas Cares Act Funds

Kansas WorkforceONE has been given the opportunity to apply for a portion of the Kansas Cares Act funds to assist employers who have experienced economic impact due to COVID-19.   The funds would be used to support training in one or more of the following categories:

  • Increase or completely change an employee or group of employees’ skill set to divert a lay-off or recall those who have been and remain laid-off.
  • Emergent Worker training for those businesses who can demonstrate an expansion in their employee needs as a result of COVID-19 (ie. PPE Production, Increased Protocols/Regulations, new production standards, etc.)

The training can be provided to both emergent and incumbent workers.  The funds could be used in the form of On-the-Job Training, Apprenticeship and Customized training with the options for the employer to provide the training in-house or through a third-party.

We will need to have an estimate of employer’s training needs by Thursday; if possible we’ll need the estimate to include number of projected employees to training, estimated costs and a very brief description.  As of now, the funds will need to be incumbered by December 30, 2020.
